As one of Apartment Guide's newest content team members, I've been inspired to try dazzling up my neglected small space, one Pinterest project at a time.

Here's one I tried that was not an epic fail: DIY Painted Marble Vases. This project caught my attention because I already had four vases and paint on hand. I didn't have to spend a dime.
Materials Used:
Side note: I believe this project works best when using two paint colors per vase. To challenge your inner DIY daredevil, you could try using three or more colors for a groovy tie-dye effect.
Step 1:
I started by pouring two colors into the bottom of the vase, just enough to coat the bottom.
Side note: I did four different vases at the same time, so don't be confused by the interchanging paint colors.
Step 2:
Slowly tilt and rotate the vase, tipping the opening downward and allowing the paint to coat the inside of the vase. If the ease of paint's flow slows down, add a few more drops as needed.
Step 3:
Once the entire inside of the vase is covered with a pretty marble pattern, sit the vase on its side on top of the newspaper surface for 24-48 hours until dry. Sitting it sideways will keep gravity from forcing the wet paint down and ruining the marble effect.
Step 4:
Show off your DIY masterpiece! I like mine in front of the fireplace.
